There’s apparently going to be an Ocean’s Eleven spinoff, because of course there is.
Movie studios love money, so we suppose it makes sense that they would revive a much beloved franchise for another go round. Although we don’t expect Brad Pitt or George Clooney to be making an appearance in the upcoming Ocean’s Eight, one Hollywood A-lister did just confirm at least a cameo role. Matt Damon told ET Online that would be reprising his role as Linus Caldwell, master pickpocket turned major thief.
“I’m doing a little bit in the movie,” Damon said of the spinoff. “I haven’t read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I’m excited to see what those women do with it. It’s going to be fun.”
Ocean’s Eight features a confirmed cast of Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Dakota Fanning, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, and Rhiana (so far). Not much else is known about the film, other than it takes place in the same universe of the original Ocean’s Eleven movies (and its sequels). Bullock will reportedly play the sister of Clooney’s original Daniel Ocean character, which will certainly feature some elaborate heist.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2018.
