“At some point, we all have to choose between what the world wants you to be and who you are.”

The final trailer for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow has been released, giving fans a closer look at Natasha Romanoff’s past, her family, and why she’s returned home. The trailer also features more of the Taskmaster (identity still unknown), a well-known Marvel baddie set to finally make his MCU debut.

Black Widow picks up shortly after the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier and tells the story of Romanoff returning home to confront her complicated past. Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow also stars David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Rachel Weisz as Melina.

During an interview with Indie Wire back in December 2019, Pugh revealed how emotionally “raw and painful” the film is and how Shortland’s story will inspire young women.

“Cate [Shortland] was so good at being so vigilant about keeping this story raw and painful. It’s about emotions, and it’s about these broken girls trying to come back together again, and trying to fix something that happened. It’s about fixing yourself, and how you do that. As an idea for a Marvel film, and as a young woman, it’s like, ‘Oh, my God, this is amazing.’ Young women are going to see this, and they’re going to watch Scarlett in her element, and they’re going to watch this storyline, and that’s only a positive thing.”
