Marvel Studios Already Want ‘Black Panther’ Director To Make A Sequel

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige wants Ryan Coogler to direct another Black Panther movie.

In an interview with Variety (via IGN), Feige discussed whether or not audiences will see a Black Panther sequel, noting that there are still plenty of stories left to tell about Wakanda and its superhero ruler. Emphasizing that Marvel Studios only works on one project at a time, Feige says that fans haven’t seen the last of T’Challa when it comes to standalone films.

“We always work on one movie at a time,” Feige said. “If you have any good ideas, put it in the movie you’re making. If you don’t, you might not be able to make another one. That said, Panther has been around for more than half a century in the comic books and there are many, many stories to tell.”

If Marvel decides to do a Black Panther sequel, Feige says he would “absolutely” want Coogler to return. “I hope so,” Feige said when asked whether the studio would be interested in bringing Coogler back to direct a sequel.

With Black Panther tracking to shatter Deadpool’s previous February box office record with a possible $200 million opening weekend, a second standalone movie seems more than likely.
