After yesterday’s rumors that Marvel was taking back the Fantastic Four film rights from Fox turned out to be false, it’s nice to see other rumors actually being confirmed. Following reports that The Hulk would make an appearance in Thor’s next movie, Deadline has received official confirmation that Marvel are in talks with Mark Ruffalo to reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thunder God in Thor: Ragnarok.
This won’t be no walk-on cameo however, as the Hulk is said to have a substantial role in the film, which will see the character paired with Thor for an epic intergalactic journey. Marvel has been reluctant in the past to give the character his own movie, so having the Hulk figure prominently in other heroes’ stories can be viewed as something of a compromise for disappointed fans.
The film will also feature Asgardian warrior Valkyrie and possibly the Enchantress, one of Thor’s more notable female villains. Increasing the presence of strong female characters, not to mention the welcome addition of the Hulk, should hopefully make this Thor film much better than its forgettable predecessor, 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.
Thor Ragnarok will be directed by Taiki Waitit and is scheduled for release on November 3rd, 2017.
