Mark Hamill Will Voice The Joker In Batman: The Killing Joke Animated Film

The upcoming animated film adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke was already going to be a must-watch regardless of who was chosen to voice The Joker. Now that it’s been confirmed that Mark Hamill is on board, this could very well be one of the greatest animated Batman films ever made.

The award-winning graphic novel by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland is one of the most popular Batman comics ever and is considered by many to be the definitive Joker story. To his credit, Hamill’s rendition of the character is widely recognized as the best (other than Heath Ledger’s live-action turn in The Dark Knight, of course), so having the actor perform vocal duties for the greatest Joker story is almost too good to be true.

Prior to Collider breaking the story, Hamill had been coy about the project, tweeting this response to a question regarding his involvement:

Hamill most recently reprised the role in the video game Batman: Arkham Knight, which was a surprise for many fans given that the actor had claimed to have retired the role back in 2011. Even if Hamill hadn’t returned as The Joker in Arkham Knight, it’s hard to believe that he would have passed on the opportunity to work on The Killing Joke. It just wouldn’t have been the same without him.
