LEGO and Chevy Have Created A Life-Size Brick Batmobile

As part of a promotional stunt for the upcoming Lego Batman Movie, the Lego Group has teamed with Chevrolet — and some Detroit area students — to introduce a full-size Lego version of the Batmobile seen in the film.

The Batmobile measures 17 feet long by 9.25 feet wide and weighs more than 1,695 pounds. Other than the aluminum frame, which is made from 86 feet of tubing to help stabilize the car, the entire vehicle is made from Lego bricks (a whopping 344,187 of them, to be exact). Source: Motor Trend

The model was built at the Lego Model Shop in Enfield, CT and took 22 hours to design and another 1,883 hours to build. Unfortunately, with a price tag of $48 million, the Lego Batmobile is not available for purchase, but those who want to see it up close will get a chance at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where it will be on display through Jan. 22. After that, the Batmobile travels to the Chicago Auto Show.

So basically, it’s the Batman equivalent of ‘The Homer.’ At least Chevy has the good sense to not mass produce them for the average American! Source: Frinkiac

The Lego Batman Movie is out Feb. 10.
