At this point, your guess is as good as ours when it comes to DC’s plans for Batman on the big screen. Just last week, Hollywood Life reported that Ben Affleck is back in shape and interested in putting on the cowl “at least one more time.” But there’s also Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie to consider, which will reportedly be looking for a younger actor in the lead role.

Recently though, Mad Men star Jon Hamm expressed interest in playing the Dark Knight if the opportunity presented itself. While it’s difficult to imagine Hamm actually being cast in the role (he’s a year older than Affleck), he has a fan in Kevin Smith. The Clerks director shared a photo of himself and Hamm together on Instagram Monday, and took the opportunity to elaborate on why he thinks the actor would be a perfect fit.

“Bat-Hamm! It’s hard to look good standing beside the best looking man in the world, but it’s worth it because I’m a huge Hamm fan (which sounds more erotically charged than I meant it)! The guy’s crazy talented, funny as f*ck, and smart as Hell. But just look at him in his suit and tell me that’s not Bruce Wayne! Give Draper the cape and light up the Bat Signal!”

Smith certainly has a point: Hamm would make for a very convincing Bruce Wayne! We have a harder time seeing him being able to handle the physical demands of playing Batman though and doubt that DC will be looking to cast another actor well into his 40s anytime soon.

At any rate, this isn’t the worst casting decision we’ve ever heard but who would you want to see take over for Affleck? Let us know in the comments below!
