Judging by the trailers and the extended lengths of each of the four previous entries in the DC Extended Universe, Justice League has the appearance of a movie that would clock in at at least two-and-a-half hours long, if not closer to the three hour mark. So consider us shocked then to discover that not only will Justice League be nowhere near 180 minutes long, it will actually have the shortest run time of any DCEU film yet by a slim margin.
As reported by Batman News [via IGN], Justice League will only be 121 minutes long, credits and all. This comes after previous reports from some theaters that were listing widely varying times ranging from two to nearly three hours long. Now, two of the biggest chains AMC and Regal both list a 121 minute run time, making Justice League just over 2 hours long.
Erik Davis, managing editor for ticketing website Fandange, has also confirmed the run time in a tweet from his personal account.
This means that Justice League will run a full half hour shorter than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and that disparity jumps to over an hour with the latter film’s extended cut), 22 minutes shorter than Man of Steel, and 20 minutes shy of this year’s previous DC hit, Wonder Woman. The closest DCEU film to Justice League in terms of run time is Suicide Squad, as that film’s theatrical cut clocked in at 123 minutes.
What do you think? Are you disappointed by Justice League’s (relatively) short run time or do you think 2 hours is the perfect length for a superhero team-up movie such as this? Let us know in the comments below!
