Jurassic World continues to be one of the hottest films of the summer (it was still in the top 5 at the box office last weekend, more than a month after its initial release) and now it’s managed to take a bite out Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
That’s right: Jurassic World has officially topped Marvel’s The Avengers in the all-time global box office charts, officially becoming the third highest grossing film ever. It managed to hit $1.522 billion this week, besting The Avengers‘ impressive $1.520 billion global take.
Jurassic World still sits well behind Avatar and Titanic, which sit at $2.788 billion and $2.186 billion, respectively. Still, not many people could have expected it to top The Avengers, so it’s still quite possible that dinosaurs really will rule the world when all is said and done.
