A Joker sequel is on the way and we couldn’t be more excited!

According to an early report by The Hollywood Reporter, director Todd Phillips, writer Scott Silver, and Joaquin Phoenix will all return for what will quickly become one of the most highly anticipated and debated sequels in recent memory. When you consider the polarizing film surpassed a $1 billion at the box office and became the most profitable comic book movie in cinematic history, a sequel was only a matter of time.

Few details about the upcoming sequel have been released thus far, but we’re also hearing Phillip is in early discussion with Warner Bros. Pictures about developing “a portfolio of DC characters’ origin stories,” but other than Joker 2, nothing has been officially confirmed by either side.

Joker is one of the best movies of 2019 and the fourth DC film to surpass $1 billion at the worldwide box office, following James Wan’s Aquaman and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
