A Star Wars film isn’t truly complete unless it’s backed by an epic score from John Williams. Fortunately, the legendary composer confirmed this week that he will be returning to do the music for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Williams reportedly said that he accepted the invitation from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy primarily because he was “so enchanted by Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Rey that he does not want another composer scoring her scenes.”
Star Wars isn’t the only iconic franchise that Williams will be returning to score in the near future, as the 84-year-old composer is also attached to write the music for Steven Spielberg’s next Indiana Jones film.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is directed by Rian Johnson (Looper) and hits theaters December 15, 2017.
