After the surprise hit of A Quiet Place in early 2018, it’s completely not a surprise that a sequel would be coming our way eventually. Director (and star) John Krasinksi has kept most details about the planned sequel close to his chest, but a new Instagram post gives us a few small scraps.
Krasinski posted an image on his Instagram feed, along with the caption “…time to go back” and the date “5-15-20.” Presumably, that means A Quiet Place Part II will hit theaters on May 15, 2020.
The sequel will reportedly bring back Emily Blunt’s character (Evelyn Abbott), but also focus on other people trying to survive in a strange new world of deadly monsters with incredible listening skills. Krasinski’s character Lee Abbott likely won’t be returning in a major way, because… reasons (no spoilers!). There’s always flashbacks and dream sequences, though!
The picture in the post doesn’t show a whole lot, other than an open door with some footsteps, along with the red warning lights used by the characters in the film. We’ll have to wait to find out whether the Abbott children will be returning for the sequel, and what other twists might be up Krasinski’s sleeves.
You can watch A Quiet Place right now on Netflix (in Canada, at least). If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s definitely worth a watch to just to see the dorky guy from The Office play a completely different type of character. And absolutely nail it.
