Here’s Who Will Voice Zazu In ‘The Lion King’ Remake

Disney has cast the role of the talking red-billed hornbill Zazu in its upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King.

TheWrap reports that Last Week Tonight host John Oliver will play the uptight adviser to King Mufasa. Zazu was originally voiced by Rowan Atkinson in the 1994 animated classic. Source: HBO

This isn’t Oliver’s first time voicing an animated character, having played Vanity Smurf in both The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2. He also has a role in Paramount’s upcoming animated comedy Amusement Park.

The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book), hits theaters on July 19, 2019 and stars Donald Glover (Simba), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), and Billy Eichner (Timon). James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa and Beyonce Knowles is the current front-runner to voice Nala.
