In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone this year, U.K. publisher Bloomsbury has announced plans to release a pair of new books in the Potter franchise.
The first, “Harry Potter: A History of Magic, The Book of the Exhibition,” is a coffee table book featuring original drafts of author J.K. Rowling’s Potter books, as well as various details regarding the subjects studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The other tome, “Harry Potter, a Journey Through a History of Magic,” explores the history of Harry Potter’s world and delves into the stories behind spells, magical creatures, wizards, and witches.
Both books will be out in the U.K. on October 20. It’s unclear at this time when the books will make their way over to the U.S, as Scholastic handles Harry Potter publishing in North America.
Unfortunately, neither of the new books are written by Rowling, the creator of the series. They are being released as an accompaniment to the British Library’s exhibition celebrating the series’ anniversary, which runs through Feb. 28, 2018.
