If you have no idea what Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark is, then we truly feel sorry for you.

However, if you have fond memories of the incredibly popular collection of scary stories told at sleepovers and campfires everywhere, then good news! Acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro is working on a film based on the book. Del Toro has a history of dealing out spooky movies, including Hellboy, Crimson Peak, and Pan’s Labyrinth. According to Deadline, del Toro is working on the movie for CBS films, although it’s uncertain if he will actually direct it.

Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark, first published in 1981, was a collection of stories written and/or compiled by Alvin Schwartz. The book became somewhat famous for its ghoulish illustrations, which were done by Stephen Gammell. The original drawings actually led to the book being banned from American libraries in some places, and a revised version was released in 2011 with less haunting visuals.

This movie will definitely have a place close to del Toro’s heart, as the director owns 10 of Gammell’s original pieces of art that were used in the book series.
