An Expendables spinoff movie starring Jason Statham’s character Lee Christmas is officially in development and will be called The Expendables: A Christmas Story.

As reported by The Illuminerdi earlier today, a fourth installment in The Expendables film franchise has reportedly been in development at Millenium Films/Nu Image for ages now, but unlike previous iterations of the action film franchise, the spinoff with feature Lee Christmas (Statham) as the lead, taking over the reins from Barney Ross, played Sylvester Stallone.

Based on everything we’ve heard thus far, Stallone will play a much smaller role in the upcoming spinoff, but “his presence will be felt throughout the film.” This likely means the fourth Expendables film will act as somewhat of a sendoff for the character, similar to that of Rambo: Last Blood.

We can also confirm Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tony Jaa are attached to the project. However, neither star has officially signed on as the project is still in the early stages of development.

What are your thoughts on The Expendables spin-off? Seeing as a director has yet to be hired, who would you like to get the job? Let us know in the comments below.
