Donald Glover Explains Why He Thinks ‘SOLO’ Is The Most Fun Star Wars Movie Yet

Following the “mixed” reactions to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there is considerable trepidation over whether Disney will be able to deliver with its next Star Wars feature, the spinoff/prequel Solo. One person who isn’t worried is Donald Glover, who stars as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming film. According to Glover, fans are really going to enjoy the tone of this Star Wars movie.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via IGN), Glover said that he thinks Solo is more fun than any other Star Wars film to date because fans already know the fate of the main characters.

“I think it’s just a lot more fun,” Glover said. “All the Star Wars [movies] are really fun but I think this movie, we know what’s going to happen, we know they’re not going to die, ya know?” Glover claims that this had the effect of allowing the cast and crew to enjoy themselves a bit more.

“We know, kind of, what happens, but how we got there, I guess, is the crux of it,” Glover said, noting that the focus of Solo in shedding more light on characters like Han Solo, Lando, and Chewbacca. “So we’re allowed to have a lot more fun than I think think the other movies where you have to deal with a lot of the lineage in what’s going to happen. I think this movie’s, like, just a fun, summer film. I’m really excited about it. It’s really cool.”

Solo opens in theaters on May 25. We really hope it’s as fun as Glover makes it out to be.
