Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the first Star Wars movie, following the release of The Rise of Skywalker, will come from Game of Thrones‘ series writers David Benioff & D.B. Weiss.

During a Twitter Q&A with Attractions Magazine, Iger officially revealed Benioff & Weiss’ involvement and stated that although hasn’t watched Episode IX yet, he’s more than happy with everything he’s seen.

Check out Iger’s comments below:

Last week Disney released their film release schedule (see here) for the next nine years and while it was great to see what’s on the horizon, it was hard to ignore all the “Untitled” films, most notably, the three new Star Wars movies scheduled for December 2022, 2024, and 2026.

Disney also hired Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to helm a separate Star Wars trilogy, although few details are known at this point.

Considering how poorly Game of Thrones‘ season 8 has been received thus far, was hiring Benioff and Weiss the right decision or are you so over Star Wars at this point, you could care less? Let us know in the comments below.
