Fox’s upcoming Deadpool film, based on the fan-favorite Marvel comics character, made a big splash at San Diego Comic-Con last week. Attendees of the film’s panel were treated to a rauscous trailer that delivered the R-rated shenanigans that fans of the “Merc with a Mouth” dreamed of seeing in a film adaptation. Unfortunately for fans who couldn’t attend the exclusive event, the trailer has not yet been released to the public. If a posting on Ryan Reynold’s Twitter account is to be believed, we’ll have to wait a few weeks to see it.
As much as I want the #deadpool footage from #SDCC officially released, the VFX shots aren't done yet. We have something for you in 3 weeks.
— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) July 12, 2015
Reynolds, who’s playing the witty superhero, has revealed that the trailer won’t be released for another 3 weeks. He cites uncompleted work on the trailer’s VFX shots as the reason behind the delay. Considering the film’s R-rating and the fratboy antics of its hero, it’s expected that the trailer will be of the extended red band variety. Since the reaction the trailer received at Comic-Con was so overwhelmingly positive, it’s safe to say that Deadpool fans won’t be disappointed by what Reynolds and director Tim Miller have in store.
Deadpool is scheduled for a February 12, 2016 release. In addition to Reynolds, the film stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, and Gina Carano.
