Fan-favorite X-Men character Kitty Pryde may be getting her own solo film, with the director of the R-rated Deadpool on board to helm it.
Sources told Collider that Tim Miller is currently developing the film for Fox, but because of the Disney buyout of Fox on the horizon, Collider stresses that the film may not be a done deal.
Although plans for the project may end up being scrapped altogether, Fox is still moving ahead with its current film lineup, as the Disney deal could take 12-18 months to process. Not much in the way of concrete details are known at this point but it looks like Colossus — who was featured prominently in Deadpool — will co-star as Kitty Pryde’s love interest.
Kitty Pryde’s most prominent on-screen appearances came in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, with Ellen Page portraying the character in both. There is no word on whether Page will reprise the role.
Up until now, only Wolverine has received an X-Men solo film, so it may seem a bit odd to see Kitty Pryde potentially being the second. However, Pryde is one of the more popular members of the team and is currently leader of the X-Men in the comics. She also has a pet dragon named Lockheed, so hopefully he makes it into the film (assuming Fox doesn’t scrap it, of course).
