Following the news earlier this week that Warner Bros. is developing a standalone Joker movie, produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by The Hangover’s Todd Phillips, the clown prince of crime has scored another upcoming movie in the form of a Joker/Harley Quinn movie that will reuinte Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto and Margot Robbie:
From The Hollywood Reporter:
“(Glenn Ficarra and John Requa) are in final negotiations to write and direct an untitled movie project centering on Batman villains Joker and Harley Quinn.
Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are due to reprise their roles as the villains, among the most popular characters in the DC pantheon, and which they first portrayed in 2016’s Suicide Squad.”
The untitled film will be written and directed by the same duo that brought us Crazy, Stupid Love (actually, that would be an appropriate title to use again here) and is described by one source as a “criminal love story,” while another insider says it will be “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.”
As for when this sure-to-be cinematic classic will arrive in theaters, the word is that WB wants it out sometime after Suicide Squad 2, which is reportedly being fast-tracked for filming in 2018 with an expected release window of 2019.
