Thor: Ragnarok

Chris Hemsworth Says He Was ‘Bored’ Of Playing Thor Before ‘Ragnarok’

Thor: Ragnarok, which hits theaters on November 3, looks like an absolute blast and it’s a good thing too because the film’s star was, by his own admission, becoming “pretty bored” with the God of Thunder.

“Every day was about exploring the unknown and trying something different,” Hemsworth said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday. “I had got pretty bored of myself as that character and so did [director Taika Waitit], maybe a few people out there [too], so we thought, ‘Let’s do something different.'”

Hemsworth says that giving Thor a haircut was one way of marking this transformation, but judging by the Thor: Ragnarok trailers, the film is dripping with style and a sense of fun that the previous two Thor movies were sorely lacking.

Having played Thor in five previous films — Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a post-credit scene in Doctor Strange — it’s understandable that Hemsworth would be getting a bit tired of the whole MCU thing. Hopefully Ragnarok reinvigorated him enough to bring the thunder, as it were, for his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, which is out in 2018.

In the meantime, let’s re-watch that last awesome Thor: Ragnarok trailer, shall we?
