Bruce Willis Weighs In On The ‘Die Hard’ Christmas Movie Debate

Watching Die Hard around Christmas time has become an annual tradition for many, but there are also just as many people who contend that John McTiernan’s 1988 action classic is NOT a Christmas movie. While July is certainly not the best time to be having these sort of debates, Die Hard star Bruce Willis has officially weighed in on the matter.

During The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis — which finished taping recently — Willis closed the roast out with the controversial declaration that, “Die Hard is not a Christmas movie!”

“It’s a god damn Bruce Willis movie!” he added.

When asked after the roast how he thinks fans of the film will respond to his statement, Willis stated, “We’ll see.”

Willis’ opinion runs counter to that of Die Hard screenwriter Steven E. de Souza, who last December confirmed that the film checks enough boxes to be considered a Christmas movie, albeit jokingly. In our view, there are very few legitimately good Christmas movies out there, so if you want to watch a stone cold classic like Die Hard every December, go for it!

The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis includes Edward Norton, Kevin Pollak, Jeff Ross, Nikki Glaser, Lil Rel Howery, Dom Irrera, Dennis Rodman, Martha Stewart, and even Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore. The special airs on July 29 on Comedy Central.
