Ben Affleck Confirms He’s Directing ‘Batman’ … But Doesn’t Sound Happy About It

Although Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League this year, his standalone Batman movie (tentatively titled ‘The Batman’) due out in 2018 seems to be getting more attention as of late. It may have something to do with Affleck being attached to direct as well, but you’d be forgiven for thinking that Affleck was giving up directing duties in light of comments he made last week, claiming that if the film’s script doesn’t meet his approval, he’ll walk.

While it’s certainly still possible that Affleck will hand the reigns to another filmmaker if things don’t go his way, the actor and filmmaker confirmed on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live that he will indeed be directing The Batman, but he’d like you to kindly shut up about it and just leave him alone.

“I’m gonna direct the next Batman. We’re working on it,” he told Kimmel. “It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating — with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, and nobody gave a sh–. No one was like, “Where’s Live by Night?!’ But with Batman I keep on getting, ‘Where’s the f—ing Batman?!’ and I’m like, ‘I’m working! Can you give me a second?!”

Hey Ben,

Where’s the f—king Batman?
