The original 1987 Predator is widely considered to be one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best action movies and even though the franchise has seen many sequels and spinoffs in the years since, Schwarzenegger has not been involved with any of them.
In a new interview with Yahoo!, the action star revealed that he was approached to return for director Shane Black’s upcoming sequel, but that he ultimately decided to turn down the offer because the script wasn’t up to snuff.
“They asked me, and I read it, and i didn’t like it — whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’d do that.”
While Schwarzenegger isn’t returning to Predator anytime soon, he did confirm that he is involved with another sequel to one of this 80s hits: the 1988 comedy Twins, co-starring Danny DeVito. “They’re writing it, and now everyone is enthusiastic about it. It will probably be done in the next month or two, and then hopefully we shoot it by this fall. It’s really exciting.”
Although Schwarzenegger won’t be involved, Shane Black’s The Predator has a solid cast that includes Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, and Edward James Olmos, among others. It’s set to hit theaters in February 2018.
