Based on Joan Didion’s book of the same name comes Dee Rees’ political thriller, The Last Thing He Wanted, starring Anne Hathaway, Willem Dafoe, Ben Affleck, Toby Jones, and Rosie Perez. The film tells the story of a veteran journalist named Elena McMahon (Hathaway) who loses the thread of her own story when a guilt-propelled job for her father (Dafoe) thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she’s trying to break. The upcoming Netflix thriller is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, before being made available on the streaming service on February 21, 2020.
