Before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Adam Driver was a well-respected actor known primarily for his work on HBO’s Girls, but he was definitely not a household name. Unsurprisingly, being cast as the villain in the third highest-grossing film of all time has changed things considerably for Driver and he’s having a difficult time coming to grips with his new-found fame.

Speaking with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show this week, Driver was asked whether he’s gotten used to people recognizing him everywhere he goes for his role as Kylo Ren in Star Wars. “No, I haven’t really gone outside much in the past couple of months,” he responded. Driver admits that he’s cool with interacting with kids, but finds that “the parents is the scary thing.”

Colbert then asked whether being referred to as a “millennial sex symbol” by Newsweek also scares him, to which Driver responded, “Yeah, that’s nice … there’s so many people that would disagree with that.”

He may have killed Han Solo, but Adam Driver probably won’t be hounded by irate fans for too long when he’s this darn charming. It’s okay Kylo, we forgive you.
