Sometimes movies are just cursed. Bad things seem to happen on and off set. The one thing they all have in common though is that they are all connected to the movie in question. We are taking a close look at some films that have been plagued by bad luck, which has lead us, and many others, to conclude that they are cursed. Instead of watching these movies, you should just pull up a chair and go through this list. Many of these things will surprise you; some will terrify you; and others you might dismiss as coincidence. Here are 7 movies you didn’t know were cursed!

7. Poltergeist

The cast of the “Poltergeist” movies are rumored to be cursed. Some believe that the curse began when human skeletons were used as props during the first two films. Since then, a number of cast members have died. First was Dominique Dunne, who played the older sister in the first film. Her boyfriend John Thomas Sweeney murdered her. Then Julian Beck died of stomach cancer. He played Henry Kane in the movie’s sequel. Will Sampson, who played the medicine man in “Poltergeist II,” was next. He died of post-operative kidney failure and pre-operative malnutrition problems. The star of the films, Heather Rourke, died during surgery to repair an acute bowel obstructions. She was only 12-years-old at the time.

6. The Amityville Horror

Right before filming commenced for the 2005 remake of “The Amityville Horror,” a dead body washed up on the shore of the set. That wasn’t all. According to Ryan Reynolds, he kept waking up at 3:15 a.m., just as his character George Lutz does in the movie. James Brolin, from the original “The Amityville Horror” movie, also reported something creepy happening when he read the script for the movie. When he got to an especially tense part, his pants suddenly and inexplicably fell off of a hanger. Because of this, he agreed to star in the movie.

5. The Omen

“The Omen” had some really bad luck. Before filming started, the son of Gregory Peck, who had one of the lead roles in the film, committed suicide. Once production started, more and more bad things began to happen. The scriptwriter’s plane was struck by lightening, as was Peck’s. One of the plane’s that was going to be used in a couple of scenes in the movie, couldn’t be used because it crashed into a road, hit a car, which then hit another car. All those involved were killed. After filming wrapped, the special effects director was in a bad car accident, which killed his girlfriend. She was reportedly decapitated in a very similar way as one of the characters in “The Omen.”

4. The Passion of the Christ

Filming “The Passion of the Christ” was not without its difficulties. Actor Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus, suffered hypothermia, pneumonia, a lung infection and a dislocated shoulder. This wasn’t all. He was also struck by lightening during film and he wasn’t the only one. Assistant director Jan Michelini was struck twice during the film’s production.

3. The Exorcist

Some believe that the set of “The Exorcist” was haunted. Several creepy things happened, which are totally inexplicable. The interior sets of the MacNeil family’s residence, except for Linda Blair’s character’s room, were destroyed in a fire. During one of the scenes where Blaire was thrashing, her harness broke, causing her to hurt her back. Actor Jack MacGowran, who played Burke Dennings, and Vasiliki Maliaros, who played Father Karras’ mother, both died before the film was released. Director William Friedkin believed that the set was haunted and had a priest brought in to bless the set.

2. The Possession

“The Possession” is reportedly based on a real haunted dybbuk box. While the movie itself is creepy enough, what happened on set was even creepier. According to the director Ole Bornedal, some really weird things happened. Lights, which weren’t even on, exploded and the storage facility that housed all of the props, including the Dybbuk box, mysteriously caught fire and burned to the ground. The fire department was never able to determine the cause of the fire.

1. Rebel Without a Cause

The main cast of “Rebel Without a Cause” all died relatively young, which has led some to think that they were all cursed. First James Dean died in a car crash on his way to a racing event; he was only 24. Just over 20 years later, Sal Mineo was stabbed to death in the alley behind his apartment. He was 37. Five years after that, Natalie Wood mysteriously drowned during a weekend trip Santa Catalina Island at the age of 43.
