10. Maika Monroe
Twenty-two-year-old Maika Monroe first appeared in 2012’s At Any Price, which was followed up by her appearance in the 2013 drama film Labor Day, where she and she starred alongside Kate Winslet. Monroe has also secured the status of a “Scream Queen” for her roles in the horror films The Guest and It Follows, putting her in good company in this category alongside the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Neve Campbell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Naomi Watts. It Follows has proven to be a particularly key role for her, and is considered to be one of the best horror films of recent times. In the lead role, Monroe’s performance was integral to its success. Monroe has proven that it is not just the horror genre that she will star in, as she is cast as Patricia Whitmore in the upcoming Independence Day: Resurgence.
9. Jack O’Connell
Our British readers will immediately recognize Jack O’Connell as the angry, troubled youth James Cook from the popular TV show Skins, but he has since broken into the film industry and is now developing quite a reputation. Similarly to Cook, he is often cast as a troubled “Jack the Lad” type, but he has shown that he is a skilled and versatile actor, having won the BAFTA for Rising Star in 2014 for playing war hero Louis Zamperini in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken. The 25-year-old has also put in impressive performances in independent films Starred Up and ’71, as well as 2014’s blockbuster 300: Rise of an Empire. Now that he is getting international recognition and has managed to somewhat shake the “bad boy” label that he’s received for his roles and personal life, O’Connell is set to become a star.
8. Zoe Kravitz
Daughter to Lenny Kravitz and singer in the popular R&B trio Lolawolf, Zoe Kravitz is also a hugely talented actress and looks set to become a star. After minor appearance in numerous films, Kravitz found success through co-starring as Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class, as well as co-starring in After Earth alongside Will and Jaden Smith. She has also appeared in Divergent, The Road Within and 2014’s A Good Kill. A crucial role for Kravitz was in one of this year’s best films, Mad Max: Fury Road, where she plays one of Joe’s five wives. She will also star in Black Belle, where she will play a gunslinger in the Old West. With all this, her successful music career, her modeling work and her famous father, Zoe Kravitz has a lot going for her and the future looks very bright for her budding career.
7. Lily James
Best known for her role as Lady Rose MacClare in popular period drama Downton Abbey, English actress Lily James is now making a name for herself in the film industry. She first appeared in Hollywood films back in 2012 with minor roles in Wrath of the Titans and Fast Girls, but she has now become a rising star thanks to landing the lead role in 2015’s live-action Disney film Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Here she performed alongside Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden and Helena Bonham Carter, with the film performing well and James’s performance being heavily praised. She will be starring in Burr Steers’ upcoming horror comedy romance film Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, where she will play the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet. The 26-year-old has also landed a role in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, which is set for a 2017 release.
6. Ezra Miller
Twenty-three-year-old Ezra Miller is perhaps best known for his chilling performance in the 2011 psychological thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin, which is an adaptation of the novel and sees Miller play the title character. He is also known for starring in the teen drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower, another adaptation that saw him star alongside Emma Watson and Logan Lerman. Miller has also appeared in City Island, Another Happy Day, Madame Bovary, Trainwreck and The Stanford Prison Experiment. This is already an impressive body of work for the young performer, leaving no doubt that he will soon become a highly respected and famous actor. It has also been announced by Warner Bros. that Miller will star as the lead character in the live-action adaptation of The Flash, set for release in 2018.
5. Cara Delevingne
Twenty-three-year-old Cara Delevingne has many strings to her bow, as she won “Model of the Year” at the British Fashion Awards in both 2012 and 2014, she is a talented musician, and has designed multiple fashion collections for DKNY and Mulberry. She also happens to be a very talented young actress who is certainly set for the stars. The London-born starlet had a minor role in the 2012 film adaptation of Anna Karenina before her first major role in the psychological thriller The Face of an Angel. She also co-starred in the adaptation of Paper Towns, as well as Pan, Tulip Fever and London Fields, making 2015 a very busy year for her. In 2016, she is set to star as Enchantress in the highly anticipated superhero film Suicide Squad, a role that could launch her to superstardom.
4. Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld stunned the industry with her fantastic performance as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers’ 2010 Western, True Grit. This saw her perform alongside Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges, where she more than holds her own. For this role, Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA. Since making a name for herself with this breakout performance, Steinfeld has gone on to play Juliet in 2013’s Romeo and Juliet, as well as appearing in 2013’s Ender’s Game, 3 Days to Kill and Begin Again. In 2015, she co-starred in the highly anticipated Pitch Perfect 2 alongside Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks. This also enabled her to debut her singing voice, and she has since signed a record deal with Republic Records and released a single, “Love Myself,” in August.
3. John Boyega
Another Brit, 22-year-old John Boyega is best known for playing Moses in Attack the Block. He has not appeared in a much since, but his name is already generating buzz simply through his appearance in a trailer. This trailer just happens to be for the most anticipated film of the year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This role will surely set Boyega on the path to stardom, as he plays the lead character of Finn, a redeemed First Order storm trooper. He is already creating headlines, and recently spoke out against a small group of fans who were not happy with Boyega as a storm trooper, as in previous films they were clones of a single white man. Boyega has also stated that he is being mentored by Robert Downey Jr.
2. Quvenzhane Wallis
At just 12 years old, Quvenzhane Wallis has already developed a reputation as an extremely talented and promising young actress. In 2012 (at age 9), she became the youngest actress to ever receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her role as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild. She also had a role in the powerful period drama 12 Years a Slave, as well as playing the title character in a remake of Annie (earning her a Golden Globe nomination). Wallis is set to appear in Gabriele Muccino’s upcoming drama film, Fathers and Daughters, which stars Aaron Paul and Russell Crowe. She has already made an enormous impact on the movie industry, and at just 12 years old, it is safe to say that Wallis is going to have an extremely successful career and will no doubt pick up dozens of awards.

Australian actress Margot Robbie is already making waves in Hollywood, but she started her career in her home country and appeared in a few independent films as well as the popular soap opera Neighbours. She would then move stateside and made her big screen debut in Richard Curtis’ About Time, and got her breakthrough in the highly acclaimed Scorsese biopic, The Wolf of Wall Street, where she played Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife. She has since gone on to star the in science fiction film Z for Zachariah, as well as opposite Will Smith in Focus, a performance for which she was highly praised. 2016 looks set to be an enormous year for the 25-year-old, who will appear in two of the most highly anticipated films of the year. She will be playing Jane Porter in Tarzan, as well as Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn in superhero film Suicide Squad.
