According to an online retailer listing that went up today, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may not release until June 2017.
Target’s online store has the Wii U version of the upcoming Nintendo game listed for release on June 13. While there is no listing for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, this posting certainly adds weight to the rumors that Zelda will not be a Nintendo Switch launch title after all. The new console is set for a March 2017 release.
Earlier this year, several Nintendo of Europe websites indicated in their source code that the Breath of the Wild amiibo would launch on March 4, 2017, which suggested that the game would release at the same time. Nintendo has yet to officially announce a release date for Breath of the Wild, so it could still be launching with the Nintendo Switch, but it is important to note that the company never explicitly indicated that it would be a launch game for the console.
Nintendo has yet to respond to this story, but we will update it if they do.
