Destiny developer Bungie has announced that the game’s fourth expansion will be unveiled on June 9.
Bungie will host a livestream starting at 10 a.m. PT on their official Twitch channel to help promote the new content. Destiny’s official website featured the above image in a news post, which shows Guardians in Iron Banner armor, hinting that the expansion will have a heavy focus on the popular Crucible event. Leaked artwork from last month indicated that the name of the expansion will be Rise of Iron.
Destiny’s publisher Activision announced earlier this year that the game would be getting a “large new expansion” in late 2016, with a full-fledged sequel planned for 2017. The most recent expansion, The Taken King, was released last September to critical acclaim. In recent months, Destiny’s popularity has declined somewhat due to a lack of engaging new content, so the reveal of a new expansion should go a long way in helping rejuvenate the game’s large and fervent fan base.
