Super Mario Party Features One of The Most Disturbing Moments In Franchise History

Super Mario Party is out this Friday on Nintendo Switch and based on early reviews, it’s a return to form for a franchise that had been growing long in the tooth for some time. Of course, even with the small improvements Super Mario Party makes to the formula, it’s hard to imagine Nintendo being able to reinvent the party game wheel at this point in the franchise.

So maybe shock value is the way to go?

As with a number of previous Mario Party titles, Super Mario Party features a whack-a-mole mini-game. This one is called Rhythm and Bruise and it tasks players with hitting moles with a mallet in time to whistles. However, as pointed out by YouTube channel GameXplain, Monty Mole is a playable character in Super Mario Party so when you play the mini-game as him, things get … well, pretty dark.

As if being forced to hit his brothers and sisters for sport wasn’t bad enough, Monty seems to be aware of what he’s doing, as his eyes go wide right before he’s about to whack a mole. Take a look for yourself:

Those are the eyes of a mole who has seen too much. Pray for Monty.

Super Mario Party is out Friday and we can guarantee you we will be picking Monty Mole EVERY TIME we play Rhythm and Bruise.
