Sony Announces ‘Batman: Arkham VR’ For PlayStation VR

We’ve all played as the Batman in Rocksteady’s acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, but now players will get to BE the Batman thanks to the power of virtual reality.

During their PlayStation press conference at E3 last night, Sony revealed a number of upcoming titles for PlayStation VR (which is out on Oct. 13 for $399 USD), including Batman: Arkham VR, which is also being developed by Rocksteady, the studio behind Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and last year’s Arkham Knight.

While not much was shown, the announcement trailer did feature voiceover of Mark Hamill as the Joker, so we know that he’s back in the role. Principal designer Bill Green wrote a post on the PlayStation Blog, sharing a few details about the game. According to Green, players will be able to explore locations like the Batcave and Wayne Manor, and the game as a whole will have a stronger focus on Batman’s detective skills than previous games in the series. He describes it as “a murder mystery in the style of the classic Batman comic books, but with a strong dose of the dark psychology that the Arkham games are well known for.”

In other words, Sony probably sold a lot of PlayStation VRs last night.

Batman: Arkham VR will be available exclusively on PS4 this October.
