It’s hard to believe that we’re only weeks away from the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. In typical Rockstar fashion, details about the highly-anticipated sequel (which is also technically a prequel) to 2010’s open world Western masterpiece have been sparse in the lead-up to the game’s launch but in the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing a ton of new information about it.
Dutch website Inside Gamer has a new Q&A up based on a two hour preview session they had with Red Dead Redemption 2. Among the discussion, including the fact that your saddlebag isn’t tied to your horse and that you’ll have to actually carry it around with you if your mount meets an unfortunate end, is the revelation that the entire map from the original Red Dead Redemption is included, meaning that you’ll be able to visit areas like Blackwater from the first game.
Here’s the translated text from the article (shout out to Reddit user Svenniewafel for the translation):
Is (part of) the map of Red Dead Redemption included in Red Dead Redemption 2?
The answer from a Rockstar rep: yes, it is.
Q: Are Armadillo and New Austin in the game?
A: Yup! After asking Rockstar they told me the entire (!) map of Red Dead Redemption is also in this game, but that of course there are many more areas added. In the six hours I played I only got to see a small part of Blackwater, and even that was already gigantic. Six hours was not enough to see any of the other familiar places.
If true, this could mean that the leaked map from a couple years ago is more accurate than we thought, though we’ll have to wait until we get our hands on the final release to know for sure.
