Pokemon Go released a surprise wave of ‘Gen 4’ Pokemon into the game today.
After about a week of hinting at their plans to implement the content, Pokemon Go developer Niantic has now released a very sizable amount of new Pokemon into the world from the Sinnoh region, the area explored in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
It’s still being discovered how many, and what types of Pokemon have been added into the game. So far we know it includes the starter Pokemon Turtwig, along with Buneary, Bidoof, Piplup and Chimchar.
A press release from Pokemon Go has revealed some specifics. The Gen 4 Pokemon will be released in waves, and more Pokemon will begin to appear throughout the game in the next few weeks.
This press release also mentions that new Pokemon will be added to egg pools and into Raid Battles. Additionally, Niantic has promised to expand Pokemon Storage but no date has been given for when that might happen. Storage is currently capped at 1500 Pokemon.
Announcements like new Pokemon, new features, and expansions to things like Pokemon Storage will all be released in the near future.
