Nintendo revealed today in a financial earnings announcement that their next home console, codenamed the NX, will launch in March 2017. The earnings report also states that Nintendo will not show the console at E3 2016 in June.
“For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed ‘NX’ with a brand-new concept,” the company said. “NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.”
Although Nintendo won’t be unveiling the NX at E3 like many industry experts had predicted, the company has previously said that they would “talk specificis” about the Wii U successor at some point in 2016.
Furthermore, Nintendo plans to focus on the new The Legend of Zelda game at this year’s E3, confirming that the game will be playable for the first time at the event. As many had already predicted, Nintendo also made an announcement this morning confirming that the new Legend of Zelda is being pushed back to a 2017 release and will be available on both Wii U and NX platforms.
