During the Pokémon Go panel at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Niantic’s John Hanke confirmed that the developer is working on new content for the popular mobile game.
New Pokémon, trading, Pokémon Centers, and PokeStop customization are all in the pipeline for future updates. According to Hanke, over the coming months and years we will see Pokémon from beyond the first generation currently in Pokémon Go. However, there are no confirmed release dates for any of these additions, as Niantic is still busy trying to improve the game’s stability.
“I’m sorry, I don’t have a date for you [for trading,]” Hanke said. “We’re working really hard to keep the servers up and running. It’s at the top of our priority list.”
Trading is in development right now, with Hanke claiming that Pokémon Centers are more of an idea right now. Pokéstop customization is another feature the developer hopes to get out soon, which will allow players to build up an area and use items to change the functionality of a particular Pokéstop.
