‘Monster Hunter World’ Ships 5 Million Copies In Just 3 Days

Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World appears to off to a strong start.

Released this past Friday for PS4 and Xbox One, the action role-playing game has already shipped 5 million copies worldwide in the three days since launch, Capcom announced in a press release this morning (this figure includes digital sales). While “shipped” refers to physical units sent to retailers and not units actually sold to consumers, the figure bodes well for the game’s early success.

At least one industry veteran predicted massive sales for the game, with DualShockers reporting earlier this month that Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura believes Monster Hunter: World will sell 10 million units worldwide in the long term, taking into account the PC release slated for this Fall.

Monster Hunter: World topped the UK charts, registering the highest week one sales of any game in the series to date. The last Monster Hunter title was 2016’s Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS, which managed to hit No. 3 on the UK charts.
