It turns out that making a really good Spider-Man game is a recipe for success. Don’t believe us? Just ask Insomniac Games, whose new PS4 title Marvel’s Spider-Man is now the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game of all time.
USA Today reports that Spider-Man has sold 3.3 million copies within the first three days of its release, translating to an estimated $198 million in sales (assuming a standard MSRP of $59.99, plus collector’s editions). One million copies had been preordered prior to release, another PlayStation record.
“Our expectations are always set at the highest levels,” said Sony Global Senior Vice President of Sales Stephen Turvey. The executive also voiced strong praise for Insomniac for “bringing Spider-Man back to gaming in a way that you want to experience it.”
“It’s met and exceeded all expectations. I think the company, and the campus, and our fans are super proud of it.”
For comparison’s sake, God of War, the previous record-holder that also saw release in 2018, sold 3.1 million copies worldwide in its first three days.
Unsurprisingly, we adored Spider-Man and awarded it a 9.5. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go back to trying to get the Platinum.

Hidden Details You May Have Missed In Marvel’s Spider-Man
The verdict is in and Marvel’s Spider-Man is another big win for Sony and the PlayStation 4. Developed by Insomniac Games, Spider-Man deviates from a long line of crummy games featuring the wall-crawler by delivering polished web-slinging and intuitive combat in a breathtaking recreation of New York City for players to explore. In the game, city of New York is practically a character in its own right and one you’ll become intimately familiar with as you rack up hours in Spider-Man’s virtual playground. Much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this new Spider-Man game contains a ton of references to all sorts of other Marvel properties, as well as a few Easter eggs that expand to the larger pop culture landscape. We’ll keep updating this page as we find more secrets but for now, here are 27 of the best Easter eggs we’ve come across in Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4.
