It Looks Like ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’ Is Finally Getting A Standalone Release

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered may soon be released as a standalone, boxed game if new reports are to believed.

According to CharlieIntel, retailers have begun receiving boxed editions of the game (image below) and some reports suggest the game will receive a surprise release either today (June 20) or next week on June 27. Target has the game listed at $39.99 in-store.

If true, this would mean that consumers will no longer have to purchase copies of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to play Modern Warfare Remastered. Activision (rightfully) drew much criticism for forcing people to buy a game they may not have even wanted in order to play Modern Warfare Remastered, so it’s nice to see the publisher responding to this, even if it’s happening seven months after the fact.

Now if they could stop charging people for the game’s map packs, we’d really be onto something here.
