If you were worried that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s episodic release structure would result in shorter experiences, think again.
In an interview with Game Informer, producer Yoshinori Kitase claimed that each episode will be a full-sized game, rather than smaller experiences like originally thought. In fact, each episode will be similar in length to an installment of Final Fantasy XIII, which ended up being a total of three full games.
“It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series, said Kitase. “In XIII, each installment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense.
“Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn’t really make sense if that isn’t encompassed in a multi-part series… So if we’re just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game.”
Final Fantasy VII Remake was revealed at last year’s E3 and currently has no release date.
