A Massachusetts teacher has turned himself over to police after sending his daughter into a toy machine to steal Nintendo systems earlier this week.
As reported by New Hampshire’s Union Leader, Antony Helinski, 34, faces multiple charges, including theft and child endangerment, after video of the incident went viral late last week. In the video, a man can be seen retrieving items from his toddler after sending her into is a KeyMaster vending machine. Some of the prizes inside the machine, located in a mall at Rockingham Park, include a Nintendo Switch console and a “Gameboy DS” as one witness called it.
A hostess from a nearby restaurant noticed what was happening and alerted mall security, which led to police involvement.
Helinski is a teacher at Doherty Middle School in Andover, Mass. Andover Superintendent of Schools Shelly Berman released the following statement Wednesday:
“One of our teachers at the Doherty Middle School was involved in an incident in Salem, N.H. last week. Andover Public Schools is fully cooperating with authorities. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.”
We’re still unclear on what a “Gameboy DS” is exactly, but we do know they’re probably not worth getting arrested over.
