It’s early at The International, with teams playing only two or three games, depending on their group, but some have already left definite early impressions. In case you needed a reminder, in the Group Stage, the 16 participating teams are split into two groups and play a series of two-game Round Robin matches, with the top 4 teams placed into the Upper Bracket for the Playoffs, and the 4 bottom teams slotted into the Lower Bracket.

In Group A, it’s all the teams you’d expect on top, with OG, LGD Gaming, and defending champions Evil Geniuses all tied for first with identical 4-2 records, while Wild Card team Escape Gaming and, surprisingly, Natus Vincere (who were one of only six teams to receive a direct invite) are hanging out at the bottom of the pack.

Over in Group B, expected favorites Team Secret and Newbee got off to strong starts, but there were a few early surprises as well. First, there was new North American team Digital Chaos, who split their series with invited Korean team MVP Phoenix before sweeping strong Malaysian squad Fnatic to finish the first day at 3-1. Fnatic, meanwhile, went 0-4 on the day, a disastrous showing for a team many thought should have been directly invited to TI6 before the tournament began.
