DOTA 2 Frankfurt Major Results Source:

The first of the newly introduced four DOTA 2 Major events took place over the last two weeks in Frankfurt, Germany, concluding with a heavily-hyped Grand Final match on Saturday. In a series of shocking upsets, recently-formed European team OG defeated prohibitive favorites Team Secret (who had won the previous two LAN events leading up to Frankfurt) 3 games to 1 in a Best of Five series to claim the Frankfurt Major and over 1 million dollars in prize money.

OG was in a rough spot from the beginning of the Main Event, starting in the Lower Bracket and being forced to fight through powerhouse teams Virtus.Pro, EHOME, TI5 runners-up CDEC Gaming, and TI5 Champions Evil Geniuses, before meeting Team Secret in the Grand Final. OG used a combination of aggression, excellent support play, and the incredible skills of Miracle, who is establishing himself as one of the best mid players in the DOTA 2 professional scene, to dominate the experienced Team Secret, winning the first two games of the Final to jump out to an insurmountable lead.

Evil Geniuses finished third overall, and Chinese-based EHOME took fourth. It was a disappointing Major overall for the Chinese teams, who failed to place a single squad in the top three. We’ll see if the balance will shift when the Winter Major takes place in Shanghai in March 2016.
