November, as usual, was an extremely busy month for video game releases and thanks to The NPD Group’s sales data, we now have a clearer picture of which titles came out on top.
Surprising absolutely no one, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was November’s top-seller in the United States. While exact sales figures weren’t revealed, Call of Duty SVP and GM Rob Kostich claims that, “Black Ops III was the largest release in North America in November by a wide-margin in both units and dollars sold-thru.” What is interesting about the data is that the Xbox One version outsold the PlayStation 4, despite Sony’s exclusivity deals with Activision. It looks like gamers still very much associate the franchise with Microsoft consoles.
According to NPD analyst Liam Callahan, November 2015 was the “best month ever in total unit sales” for this console generation, even besting November and December of last year, the two previous highest sales months.
While Star Wars Battlefront came in third place, it still had the strongest first month in terms of sales of any Star Wars game ever, beating out the previous record set by Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
November’s 10 best selling games are as follows. Note that the top-selling platforms are listed left to right.
