Activision Blizzard Are Launching A Movie and TV Studio

As if purchasing the developers of Candy Crush for $5.9 billion and launching a new Call of Duty game weren’t enough for one week’s work, mega-publisher Activision Blizzard have just announced that they will be launching a new studio dedicated to film and TV projects.

The new studio will be dedicated to creating entertainment based on their portfolio of video game franchises, such as Call of Duty, Starcraft, Diablo, Destiny, and Warcraft. The first project for the studio will be a cartoon based on the Toys to Life series Skylanders:

Activision Blizzard Studios’ first production will be “SkylandersTM Academy,” an animated TV series based on the award-winning Skylanders game. Currently in production under the supervision of showrunner Eric Rogers (“Futurama”), “Skylanders Academy” will feature the voices of Justin Long (“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ask Me Anything”) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb,” “High School Musical”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) as Eruptor and Norm Macdonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.

Here’s hoping for a Destiny Movie or TV series at some point, if only so we can finally understand what the heck is even going on in that game.
