Back around the time the terrible Fox’s terrible reboot came out in 2015, Marvel ended all Fantastic Four comic runs, potentially as a passive-aggressive move to prevent Fox from capitalizing even further on characters Marvel didn’t own the film rights to. However, once the rumors regarding the Disney/20th Century Fox merger came to light last fall, speculation began about what the situation might mean for the Fantastic Four and their possible inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While we still don’t know what’s going on on that front, but today’s news may be a sign that Marvel is gearing up for this to happen:

“After a spacefaring foray into the unknown, Marvel’s First Family returns this August with FANTASTIC FOUR #1.

Written by Dan Slott with art by Sara Pichelli, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch reunite this summer.”

Marvel’s official website posted the above blurb, confirming that the Fantastic Four comics are making a return this summer.

So does this mean Marvel’s First Family will be in future MCU movies? It’s impossible to say at this point, as Marvel has not announced anything on that front, but this certainly seems like a positive step in the right direction.

If the Fantastic Four were to make the jump though, how would you want Marvel to handle it? And which actors would you want to see play Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch (guess we can rule out both Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan on that front, huh)? Let us know in the comments!
