A new recall issued by Chrysler extends to several of their most popular vehicle models, including the Dodge Journey (2009 model year), Dodge Grand Caravan (2008-2009 model years), Chrysler Town and Country (2008-2009 model years) and the Volkswagen Routan (2009 model year), which was manufactured by Chrysler.

The airbag control units in the affected vehicles may corrode over time, which means they may not deploy in the event of a crash. It’s also possible that the airbags may inadvertently deploy, which could result in an accident. Seven minor injuries (but no accidents) have been reported as potentially related to this issue.

Chrysler has not yet indicated when they will be notifying customers, but concerned customers may call Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 in the meantime, referencing recall number S07. The faulty airbag control units will be replace by dealers at no cost to vehicle owners.
