Despite facing competition from a litany of college football games, Raw started the year off strong, breaking the 3 million mark and even somewhat maintaining their numbers across all three hours. Part of that has to be attributed to the fact that the final segment of the evening was the heavily advertised return of Goldberg, but Raw also leaned heavily on Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, who appeared in several segments throughout the evening, and a Last Man Standing match between Braun Strowman and Sami Zayn. Overall, Raw averaged 3.05 million viewers and a 1.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which was good enough for ninth overall, behind an assortment of Bowl games, and one of only two non-football shows in the top 10.
