With Justice League seemingly featuring locations from all over the DC Comics universe, it’s been anyone’s guess as to what settings we may see in Zack Snyder’s upcoming film. Of course, it’s pretty obvious that we’ll see locations such as Gotham City and Metropolis, but according to a new report from Batman-News, one of the most popular settings associated with the Dark Knight will be featured in the film.
Justice League will reportedly offer viewers their first look at Arkham Asylum in the DCEU. While the iconic psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane has been featured in past Batman movies, it’s never really been a major location, although Joel Schumacher’s films showed a few of Batman’s villains being locked away there.
According to Batman-News, the fact that Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is in the movie is an indication that we’ll be seeing Arkham Asylum, as this is where Lex Luthor is locked up at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, there is more evidence that points to Arkham Asylum appearing in Justice League, as the film’s IMDB page lists several extras with roles such as “Arkham Guard” and “Lex Luthor’s Guard,” which seem like dead giveaways.
With Rocksteady’s critically-acclaimed 2009 video game Batman: Arkham Asylum offering fans an extensive look inside the the location, it will be interesting to how Justice League’s interpretation compares. We’ll find out when the film releases on November 17.
